Group Benefits Exam
While there are no formal prerequisites for registration to the CIA Group Benefits exam (GBE), please note that the material covered in the SOA Group and Health Track exams and educational activities, including the Group and Health Core – Canada exam
, are considered background knowledge to the CIA Group Benefits exam and are expected to be thoroughly understood by candidates. Note that the exam is required for FCIA qualification and PEC eligibility only if credit for GHCORC was achieved prior to September 1, 2017. Candidates who successfully complete GHCORC after September 1, 2017 are exempt from the CIA Group Benefits exam requirement.
Note that conventional-route candidates who wish to attend PEC in the Group Track based on experience will still have to take the GBE to qualify for FCIA if they achieved credit for GHCORC prior to September 1, 2017. Please contact Leslie Lenton if you have any questions
The CIA Group Benefits examination takes place on February 13, 2019, 12:30 p.m. ET.
Candidates may opt to write the exam in a location of their choosing, as long as it is proctored by a Fellow of the CIA.
The exam will be a three-hour, open-book examination. The exam syllabus and course of reading will
focus on the material not covered by SOA examinations that is required by the CIA syllabus.
